Hartford Yard Goats Mascots Chompers & Chew Chew

Hartford, Conn- The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, unveiled its two mascots today at a press conference at Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford. Their names "Chompers" and "Chew Chew" were selected from the over 4,000 submissions in an online "Name the Mascot" contest in July. Chompers and Chew Chew are two friendly character goats who will represent the Yard Goats in the community and of course cheer on the home team at every game at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
Chompers is a large male green fury goat character with blue horns, flared nostrils and bright smile showing off his sparkling white chompers and full "Goat-ee." Chompers is wearing a plaid shirt along with blue shoes to fit his incredibly big feet. Chew Chew is a female blue fury goat with green horns, flared nostrils, "Goat-ee" and bright smile showing off her beautiful white teeth. Chew Chew's mouth is outlined with pink lip stick and she is wearing a white dress with green and blue polka dots along with white ruffled bloomers and a pair of green shoes. She is also sporting a stylish bow in her hair.
"We thought with all the excitement that the Yard Goats has generated that Hartford deserved not one but two primary mascots," team General Manager Tim Restall said. "Chompers and Chew Chew are fun and appeal to all ages and will be our community ambassadors all year long."
After the mascot unveiling Press Conference, Chompers and Chew Chew got to work immediately with a visit to see the kids at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.
Chompers was chosen by Lauren Konefal, age 10, of Middlefield, CT and Chew Chew was chosen by Jeffrey Boyle, age 10, of Farmington, CT and both are the winners in the "Name the Mascot" contest. Lauren and Jeffrey each have won a pair of Hartford Yard Goats Season Tickets for the inaugural season.
The Hartford Yard Goats begin their inaugural season on April 7, 2016 at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Downtown Hartford. Season tickets are now available by calling 860-246-4628.
