Wizards gain major recognition on all D-League team
April 4, 2007 - NBA G League (G League)
Dakota Wizards News Release
BISMARCK, N.D., April 4, 2007 - The Dakota Wizards of the NBA Development League are proud to announce that forward Renaldo Major has been selected to the first team GATORADE All-NBA D-League team, while center Kevin Lyde and forward Quemont Greer were named Honorable Mention.
"These guys worked so hard all season and it's a tremendous accomplishment for them," said Wizards head coach Dave Joerger. "Renaldo has been the MVP for us all season, while K Lyde and Q (Greer) have stepped up as leaders down the stretch."
Major, who earned a Gatorade Call-Up to the Golden State Warriors on January 17, is currently 10th in the league in scoring averaging 18.2 points to go along with his 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. The 6'7 forward out of Fresno State was a member of the D-League Eastern Division All-Star Team and has been a consistent force for the Wizards all season and has helped lead them to a 29-16 record, placing them atop the Eastern Division.
"That's a good five on the list," Said forward Renaldo Major. "That's an honor and I'm thankful, but I wasn't going for that, I am just trying to play basketball to the best of my ability and help lead the Wizards to a championship."
Lyde has controlled the paint for the Wizards this season, averaging 9.3 points and 6.6 rebounds while connecting on 62.4% of his shots, good for second best in the league. Greer, averaging 16.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest, was named D-League Performer of the Week in back-to-back weeks in January and joined Major as the only Wizards on the Eastern Division All-Star Team earlier this season.
