Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to The Annex and The Cube, announces that the complex will host UCF Cage Combat MMA on Saturday, March 19th at 8p.m.
For one night only, the most action packed full contact mixed martial arts in the Midwest returns to Wings Stadium.
Greg Ahrens and the UCF Cage Combat MMA Brand is the original state licensed & bonded professional fight promotion company in Michigan to host MMA events. Ahrens hosted the first-ever state sanctioned Professional Mixed Martial Arts event in Michigan's history on January 15th 2010 at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Cage Combat MMA has been featured on the FOX Sports Network, giving local Michigan fighters national exposure.
With over 27 years in the combative sports industry, working with HBO, SHOWTIME, ESPN and FOX SPORTS Ahrens has an extraordinary record for quality matchmaking and overall fighter safety. Ahrens is on a mission to find and develop the best fighters in the state and give them opportunity to go to the next level as legitimate licensed professionals. Other promotions claim to be professional, but the facts are the facts, there are only 4 licensed promotion companies that meet the criteria of the State of Michigan to host events. Ahrens is currently working with former Kalamazoo Mayor Ed Annen and State Rep. James Bolger, along with several other law makers and industry leaders to help create rules and regulations for amateur MMA. These efforts have resulted in the introduction of House Bill 4295. This bill will ensure a level playing field while increasing overall fighter safety and the integrity of the great sport of mixed martial arts.
