Warriors Unveil Snowbird Jersey
March 8, 2016 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
This Saturday the Moose Jaw Warriors will host the Canadian Forces Snowbirds for their fifth annual "Snowbirds Night", and wear commemorative jersey's in honour of the aerobatics team.
"As a hockey team the Moose Jaw Warriors would like to thank the Canadian Snowbirds 431 Squadron for allowing us to view their pre-flight prep and take us through their daily briefing before they fly their routine," said Warriors Head Coach Tim Hunter. "As Canadians we are very lucky to have such classy and professional people flying for the Royal Canadian Air Force. To allow us to see their team work and professionalism was very unique and a great team building experience for our hockey club."
"I couldn't be more excited to get the opportunity to spend the day and fly with the Snowbirds. Growing up in Moose Jaw my family attended the air show a number of times and I was always amazed by them and the precision they have together," commented Moose Jaw Warrior Marc McNulty. "Their lives are essentially in the hands of their teammates, and as a hockey team we can learn a lot about teamwork and accountability from them. It will be a special day for our organization."
March 8th, McNulty along with Dryden Hunt, Tanner Jeannot, and Athletic Therapist Brooke Kosolofski flew over southern Saskatchewan with the Snowbirds. Throughout the course of the day the Warriors learned firsthand the pressures and expectations that come with being a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force 431 Air Demonstration Squadron.
On February 27th members of the squadron took to the ice with the Warriors for their game day skate, before this Saturday's game they will join the players in their locker room where they will see how the team prepares. Members of the Snowbirds will also be on the bench during warm-ups.
The special edition jerseys worn by the team will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to local charities.
This auction will begin Saturday at 6pm and will continue throughout the game on the concourse of Mosaic Place. Following the conclusion of the game the auction will freeze and then resume online, www.mjwarriors.com, Tuesday morning at 10am.
Fans will be able to email their bids to souvenirs@mjwarriors.com, call 306.694.5711 extension 3010, or stop by the "The Crushed Can" during regular store hours located on the north side of Mosaic Place. The auction will continue until 5pm, Saturday, March 19th, funds raised will be announced during the second intermission on the Warriors final game regular season home game.
