
Toledo Walleye Games Will Be Aired On Fox Sports Radio 1230

(Toledo, OH) - The Toledo Walleye Hockey Club (ECHL) and the Toledo Bullfrogs (arenafootball2) are pleased to announce that Fox Sports Radio 1230 WCWA will serve as the club's flagship radio station for the next three seasons. Fox Sports Radio 1230 WCWA is already the home for Toledo Mud Hens baseball (since 2008).
Fox Sports Radio 1230 WCWA will broadcast each of the Toledo Walleye's 72 regular season games and all post-season games. The Bullfrogs will have a 16-game schedule (TBA).
In addition, Walleye fans will also be able to access live broadcasts via the team website at www.toledowalleye.com.
Andy Stuart, VP/Market Manager of Fox Sports 1230 AM's parent company Clear Channel Online, Music & Radio said, "Everybody here at Fox Sports 1230 AM is really excited that the long wait will be over very soon and great hockey will be returning to Toledo. Broadcaster
Matt Melzak will make his return to the broadcast booth for the Walleye inaugural season. The 33-year-old Toledo native was the voice of the Toledo Storm from 2003-07. Melzak will also host the weekly coaches show during the season on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.
Melzak said, "I am very excited and honored to be selected as the voice of the Toledo Walleye for the inaugural season. I am also enthused to join a great and tireless staff that has done so many outstanding things for the Toledo community. Under the direction of a great coach in Nick Vitucci, a beautiful new facility, and a terrific fan base, I believe the future of Toledo hockey is bright!"
Along with the 72+ Walleye broadcasts, Fox Sports Radio 1230 has also agreed to be the home of the Walleye weekly radio show. The show will be broadcast live from Pizzapapalis Taverna located at the corner of Monroe and Huron Streets in downtown Toledo. The show will be broadcast live on location on Tuesdays from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. Walleye Head Coach Nick Vitucci and the "Voice of the Walleye", Matt Melzak will be the hosts. The show will also feature weekly player guests, questions from the fans and special guests in the world of hockey. Pizzapapalis Taverna will feature food and drink specials during the show. The Walleye Coaches Show at Pizzapapalis Taverna is scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 6 from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend!
