SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - September 20, 2018 - The Alliance of American Football today unveiled the names, logos and color packages of its four eastern division teams, located in Birmingham, Memphis, Orlando and Atlanta. Alliance East will be comprised of the Birmingham Iron, Memphis Express, Orlando Apollos and Atlanta Legends. Alliance West names, logos and color packages will be unveiled next week.

"The selection process of naming each Alliance team began by listening to our fans and working with each city to hear their suggestions and determine a long list of great ideas," said Charlie Ebersol, founder and CEO, The Alliance. "After we culled that list down through local market research, testing and a dynamic group of advisers in each city, we had our short list. Then, more testing, and ultimately, Bill and I had some decisions to make. We feel strongly that our team names identify with the great cities we call home to our Alliance teams and positively represent the region and our fans."

Birmingham Iron

The Birmingham Iron pays tribute to the hard working steel workers who provided the Iron that fueled the industrial revolution. The people of Birmingham are tough, hard working, passionate, strong and dependable, attributes that will quickly become synonymous with the Birmingham Iron. The team colors - black, steel grey and brushed silver - are derived from the three elements needed to make steel, Iron Ore, Coal and Flux. The logo, a stylized football, pays tribute to the passionate football fans of Alabama.

Memphis Express

Memphis has become one of the nation's leading centers for transportation and logistics. Here, things move swiftly and purposefully with the goal of achieving awesome results and constantly raising the bar to new heights. The Memphis Express will be no different. America's largest small town will be decked out in red, navy blue and white, on the ground and through the air, the Memphis Express will operate with precision and urgency with visions of a championship fueling a run to the top.

Orlando Apollos

The sun doesn't set on football in early February anymore. Inspired by Apollo, the Greek god of sun, The sunshine state's new professional football franchise is a glowing testament to the power, imagery and energy made possible by the sun. The Orlando Apollos' colors - navy blue, dark orange and bright orange - are reflective of the warm Florida sunshine. The Apollos are poised with otherworldly strength, aggression and energy with its arrow pointed firmly toward a championship. And it all launches on the 50th year anniversary of the most extraordinary American Apollo mission (11) to the Moon.

Atlanta Legends

Players come and go, legends live forever. Atlanta is a city of legends, those who are heroic, larger-than-life, celebrated and storied on and off the field. From Hank Aaron and Chipper Jones to our very own Michael Vick, the greats come to Atlanta to be immortalized. Some of the biggest legends of the civil rights movement have called Atlanta home. Centennial Park stands as a monument to the achievements of Olympic legends. Atlanta houses legendary establishments such as the historic Fox Theatre. This is where legends are made. This is where the Atlanta Legends will make their mark in purple, gold and white - colors that represent rich heritage, tradition and royalty.
