Salt Lake City Stars News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, will host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets affiliate) on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Bruin Arena at Salt Lake Community College in Taylorsville.
February marks Black History Month and the Salt Lake City Stars will celebrate the occasion with video messages played throughout the game from Stars players and coaches speaking on their personal experiences and paying homage to several Black role models and heroes that made positive impacts in their lives and communities.
Tuesday night's matchup, presented by Adidas, will tip at 7 p.m. and will mark the first time the Vipers have visited Salt Lake City since Nov. 15, 2019. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be heard locally on 1280 AM/97.5 The Zone.
Tickets for the Stars showdown against the Vipers are still available at slcstars.com or by phone (via call or text) at (801) 325-STAR (7827).
Stars guard Carsen Edwards will look to continue his 30-plus point scoring streak on Tuesday night. Edwards has scored 30 points or more in the last three games and in four of the last five, including a 38-point performance against the Oklahoma City Blue on Friday night. His 27.6 points per game leads the Stars and ranks second in the NBA G League.
The Stars are coming off a thrilling game against the Blue on Friday night. The game was played at Vivint Arena, the home of the Utah Jazz, in conjunction with the Junior Jazz.
The event was the second of its kind this year and featured a pregame party that welcomed all current Junior Jazz members and their families to the arena for games, prizes, bounce houses, face painters, balloon artists and more. Following the pregame party, the Stars welcomed an electric crowd of 7,074 to watch the team battle the Blue in a game that ended with a wild sequence and saw the Stars come up just short against the visitors, 114-112.
