Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
A busy weekend in Des Moines includes a pair of Buccaneers home games! While the City of Des Moines hosts the opening rounds of the NCAA men's basketball tournament, the hunt for the playoffs is on at Buccaneer Arena! March Madness hits the hardwoods Thursday and Saturday, but the Bucs heat things up on the ice Friday and Sunday.
The Des Moines Buccaneers host the Lincoln Stars on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be wearing special St. Patrick's Day themed jerseys, presented by Finn's Pub. Finn's Pub, located at 70th and Douglas Ave. in Urbandale, is a proud Bucs sponsor and great pregame spot to celebrate, opening at 11:00 a.m. CT on St. Patty's Day. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game with proceeds going to the Des Moines Buccaneers Booster Club. Finn's Pub is also the place to go after a Bucs home game. Show your game ticket any time at Finn's and get 2-for-1 16 oz. draft beers.
It's also a Fareway Friday night. Bring any Fareway receipt to the Ticket Office and you'll get BOGO (buy one get one) adult arena level tickets for Friday's game.
On Sunday, it's Dupaco Day and a Dupaco Cowbell Cup matchup with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders, slated for a 3:00 p.m. CT puck drop. The first 500 fans on Sunday will take home a Dupaco Cowbell Cup mug. Fans will receive a voucher for the mug, and the mug can be picked up at fan relations towards the end of the third period and after the game.
Fans can score a free general admission ticket to Sunday's game by bringing 3 non-perishable food items that will go to support area food pantries.
Sunday is also a Kids Club game and the Buccaneers will have a postgame skate with the team. Anyone wishing to be on the ice or skate will need to sign a consent form and they are available at the Fan Relations table. We recommend fans do this when arriving to the game or as early as possible before the end of the game. Skates are available as well.
The Buccaneers will also welcome members of the Central Iowa D-League (Adult Hockey) on Sunday, as they celebrate their season, also playing a 3-on-3 tournament at Buccaneer Arena on Saturday and Sunday. Adults interested in learning to play hockey or join a league at any level of skating ability, can learn more about the CIDL here.
Tickets for both Friday and Sunday's games are available online at tickets.bucshockey.com, by visiting the Ticket Office in person from 9am-5pm CT Monday through Friday, after 10am this Sunday, or by calling 515-278-2827.
