
Sounders FC's U-17 squad takes Generation Adidas Cup championship with 2-0 win over Tigres UANL

SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC U-17s won the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup this past Sunday, April 17 with a 2-0 win over Tigres UANL. This is the second consecutive U-17 Generation Adidas Cup championship for Seattle, who also won the tournament in 2019 when it became the first MLS team to ever win the competition. The contest was suspended from 2020-2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After finishing second in Group D with seven points (2-0-1), Seattle went on to defeat Philadelphia Union, CF Monterrey and Inter Miami CF in the Knockout Rounds en route to the final match against Tigres UANL. Chris Aquino and Etienne Veillard scored for the Rave Green on Sunday, while Wyatt Nelson recorded the shutout against the Liga MX academy side.
Nelson was named the U-17 Generation Adidas Cup Best Goalkeeper, while midfielder Stuart Hawkins was named the U-17 Generation Adidas Cup Most Valuable Player.
