Jacksonville Sharks News Release
JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that defensive back Jabari Gorman has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster for the 2017 season.
Jabari Gorman (5'11",190) will begin his first year with the Sharks, and is the first non-returning player to join the Sharks roster since the team's decision to move the National Arena League. Prior to the Sharks, Jabari Gorman played for the Nebraska Danger of the Indoor Football League recording 125 tackles, ranking second on the team with 95 solo tackles. Gorman proved to be a major threat on defense grabbing seven interceptions for Nebraska, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Gorman finished season as IFL's Rookie of the Year and was named a First Team All-IFL Defensive Back.
Jabari spent his collegiate career with the University of Florida where he played all four years for the Gators playing in 49 games during his career. His senior season he recorded 58 tackles, seven pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and an interception. Gorman's best game during his final year with the Gators came against rival Florida State where he led the team with nine tackles and recorded an interception against the Seminoles.
In 2013, Gorman racked up 48 tackles, eight pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and a career high of 10 tackles against Georgia Southern. During his sophomore campaign he recorded two tackles and an interception. In 2011, Gorman played in all 13 games for Gators mostly on special teams and as a reserve safety.
Prior to his time at UF, Gorman played for Monsignor Pace High School in his hometown of Miami, FL where he was a four-star recruit and was ranked the No. 10 safety in the nation by Rivals.com. The senior standout helped lead the 10-1 Monsignor Pace into the class 2B regional final. Following the season Gorman competed in the 2011 Under Armour All-American game as a second-team all-state defensive back. Gorman played both safety and running back before committing to the University of Florida despite getting offers from Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Florida State and Michigan.
