August 5, 2012 - California League (CalL1)
Inland Empire 66ers News Release
The Inland Empire 66ers was not able to crack the pitching of the San Jose Giants as they were shut out 10-0 to lose their 3rd straight game on Rally Monkey Beanie Giveaway night presented by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. 66ers infielder Brandon Brewer made yet another cameo appearance as a pitcher to settle down a battered 66ers pitching staff.
The 66ers offense were able to get hits, but were not able to string them together in order to manufacture runs. 66ers third baseman Kaleb Cowart and 66ers first baseman C.J. Cron both doubled in the game to provide the pop out of the lineup against a Giants pitching staff that was firing on all cylinders.
66ers starter Manny Correa was not able to get off to the right start after a wonderful July as he went 5 1/3 innings, giving up nine earned runs and striking out two. Correa took the loss to fall to 6-8 on the year. Snodgrass pitched 7 shutout innings to earn the win to improve to 10-4. Brewer threw 2 innings, giving up an unearned run, striking out one and walking two. Brewer on the year has a 3.00 ERA with 11 strikeouts and 5 walks in 9 innings of work.
The 66ers conclude their series with the San Jose Giants tomorrow at 6:05 pm. It will be an Angels Drawstring Backpack Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 5:55.
