
RailCats Sign Veteran Catcher

Gary, Ind. - The 2005 Northern League Champion Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club announced today that veteran catcher Chris Curry has been signed as a free agent. RailCats manager Greg Tagert made the announcement.
Curry was drafted in the 9th round in 1999 by the Chicago Cubs out of Mississippi State University. He spent four years in the Cubs organization, briefly reaching Triple-A Iowa in 2002. He has spent the last three seasons with the San Francisco Giants Double-A club, Norwich, batting a combined .245 with 21 home runs and 85 runs batted in over 746 at bats.
Curry is slated to be the RailCats starting catcher this season.
The RailCats begin spring training on May 4th at U. S. Steel Yard. They open the 2006 Northern League season and begin defense of their title on May 18th at Calgary. The home opener is May 26th at U. S. Steel Yard in Gary.
