The Providence Bruins are coming off their first weekend of the 2004-05 season, after capturing their first win of the year in a 4-0 shutout of the Springfield Falcons on Sunday. The Bruins are 1-1-0-1 (3 points), putting them in fourth place in the Atlantic Division. Head coach Scott Gordon's club ranks third in the AHL with an average of 38.7 shots on goal per game, and has had key contributions from its special teams. The Bruin power play unit is tied for fourth in the league with a 30.0% success rate (6/20), and is tied for fifth on the penalty kill, at 95.0% (19/20).
