Perich Grand Slam Powers Rider Rout of Wichita

FRISCO, Texas - With runs in seven of the nine innings, the Frisco RoughRiders routed the Wichita Wind Surge 14-2 Friday night at Equity Bank Park to even the series at two games apiece.

Frisco (33-34, 72-63) got the engine going early, plating a run in the first on a Rafe Perich RBI single against Riley Quick (0-3). Wichita (29-38, 53-80) responded to tie it 1-1 on a solo home run in the bottom of the first from Khadim Diaw.

The third inning is when the Riders blew it open, scoring six times against Quick, including a 471-foot grand slam from Perich over the RoughRider bullpen in right field. Frisco added an RBI double from Max Wagner later in the inning.

After the third, the Riders scored in each of the next four innings as well, putting three on the board in the sixth and a single run in the seventh on a booming home run from Arturo Disla.

Ultimately, the Riders would score again in the ninth and plate 14 total runs and, in a bullpen game, surrendered just two runs on three hits behind strong nights from Jonathan Brand, Kai Wynyard (1-0) and Brock Porter, who picked up the four-inning save.

Notes to Know:

Perich's grand slam was his 27th total home run of the season and his five RBI tied a career high.

Sebastian Walcott and Dylan Dreiling both had three-hit games alongside Perich.

Frisco's 14 runs were just one off its season high.

With the series tied at two games apiece, Frisco will look to take its first lead with RHP D.J. McCarty (0-3, 7.13) on the mound against RHP Adrian Bohorquez (0-1, 1.50) in a 6:05 p.m. start at Equity Bank Park.
