Ontario Fury News Release
The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, opened its four-game road trip falling to their Pacific Division rivals, the San Diego Sockers, 7-2.
After a scoreless first period, the Fury got on the board first as Israel Sesay took a loose ball and slotted it home past San Diego goaltender Chris Toth. But San Diego tied the game as Dan Antoniuk's pass across the front of the goal bounced off a Fury defender and into the goal. Nick Perera scored the first of three goals on the night, after Toth stopped a goalmouth scramble and threw a long ball for Perera to put home, giving the Sockers a 2-1 halftime lead.
San Diego extended the lead in the third quarter, as Perera and Matias Kruger teamed up on three goals. Kruger set up Perera twice, while Perera returned the favor, as San Diego built a 5-1 lead through three quarters.
Ontario finished the scoring as Jose Cabrera blasted the ball home with 3:11 remaining.
The Fury fall to 1-2 on the season, while San Diego remains undefeated at 3-0.
Ontario will continue its road trip this weekend with a trip to New York state for games on back-to-back nights against Syracuse on Friday and Rochester on Saturday. It will be Ontario's first time playing under the Multiple Point Scoring system used by teams in the Eastern Division. Each goal will be credited as two points, while outside goals will be counted as three points. Both games will be available to watch online at GoLiveSportsCast.com.
In other news, the Major Arena Soccer League repealed its experimental rule awarding a penalty shootout attempt for most blue card penalties. Penalty shootouts will still be called for last-man fouls and fouls committed in the penalty area.
Tickets for the next Fury home game - Dec. 7 vs. the Turlock Express - and season packages are still available through the Fury's offices. For information, call the Fury at 909-457-0252.
