New Security Service Field Unvielded

Colorado Springs, CO –As part of a partnership agreement reached between the Sky Sox and Security Service Federal Credit Union, Sky Sox Stadium's name will be changed to Security Service Field effective immediately, team and credit union officials announced today. The stadium will also undergo a $4 million privately funded renovation prior to Opening Day.

The 12-year agreement between the Sky Sox and Security Service includes significant stadium sponsorship and advertising inventory, special stadium benefits for Security Service members and countless promotional and community partnerships. The two organizations have also come to together to create a new, facility specific logo.

"Security Service Federal Credit Union is excited to be part of a new era in Sky Sox Baseball," said Security Service Chief Operations Officer Jim Laffoon. "It is an exciting time for all Sky Sox fans and Security Service members."

"Security Service is the perfect partner for us in this venture because their presence and reputation in the community is second to none and we are proud to call them our partners," said Sky Sox Owner Dave Elmore.

"We are very proud to announce this partnership with Security Service Federal Credit Union and this major renovation to the facility, because it truly provides tremendous benefits for everyone associated with Sky Sox Baseball including our players, season ticket holders, corporate partners, groups and individual ticket buyers," said Sky Sox President Tony Ensor.

The $4 million modernization of the stadium will provide the southern Colorado area with a first class entertainment destination. The construction project will include a state-of-the-art home clubhouse area with underground batting/pitching cages, new umpire facilities, enclosed and upgraded luxury suite level, creation of an enclosed and decorative main gate area, 2,536 new box seats with cup holders in the stadium's lower bowl and the creation of a new entranceway from the parking lot featuring two large covered porte-cochere gathering areas. The entire plaza area in front of the stadium is being renovated with a new hardscaped and landscaped walkway. Awnings over the ticket office and Sky Sox office will create a fan friendly welcome to Security Service Field. The stadium concourse area will also receive a new color design to bring the entire project together.

Another major feature of the project will be the addition of a new five-tiered picnic terrace area located down the right field line. It will feature a seating capacity of 600, along with a full-service indoor banquet facility with seating for up to an additional 250 that will provide groups one of the best views of the playing surface. The new terraces and banquet facility will be used to host catered company and group picnic functions at all Sky Sox home games, and will be available 365-days a year to host events such as corporate functions, wedding receptions, seminars and other community events.

"Thanks to this partnership and commitment with the Sky Sox, we believe the players, staff members, and fans will soon be enjoying one of the premier facilities in the Pacific Coast League."

"The renovations, to be completed for the 2005 season, will be a terrific enhancement for the fans, as well as for the players and for Colorado Springs. The Sky Sox deserve kudos for this major effort to increase the enjoyment for their fans," said Pacific Coasts League President Branch Rickey.

Local companies Barnes Architects (design) and Bryan Construction (general contractor) were selected to complete the project, which is expected to take just over 6 months to complete.

"This project will dramatically upgrade our facility and improve the ballpark experience for all Sky Sox fans, sponsors and players," said Sky Sox Owner Dave Elmore. "Everyone in Colorado needs to come out to the ballpark this summer and see what we've done, it is an exciting transformation.." Security Service Field will begin a new era of Sky Sox Baseball with a Major League exhibition game against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday April 2nd, 2005 at 2pm. Tickets for this and all Sky Sox games go on sale at 9am on March 1st.
