
NBL Canada Appoints Gary Curgin as New Chief Executive Officer

The National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Curgin as the new Chief Executive Officer effective May 3, 2021.
Curgin brings a wealth of industry experience to the role including being the former owner of his own sports management company for more than 20 years. He has a deep passion for the game of basketball as both a former player and coach and the board of directors is excited to welcome his leadership, experience and passion for basketball in his new role as CEO of the NBLC.
"As a longtime fan of the NBLC, I believe this is a fantastic league with a rich history and tremendous potential to do great things. I am thrilled to be a part of it and share the same passion for this league as our owners, fans and players.", Curgin said. "I am eager to work hard to make the NBLC even bigger and better as we enter our 10th anniversary year".
As part of the new leadership structure, NBL Canada also announces the appointment of Audley Stephenson to the position of vice president of basketball operations. Stephenson has been with the league since its inaugural season and was named to the position of deputy commissioner in October 2017. In his new and expanded role, Stephenson will continue to oversee day-to-day basketball and league operations and he will also provide support to the CEO in the areas of business development, new initiatives and strategic partnerships.
Stephenson said, "I'm appreciative to the NBL Canada board of directors for providing me this exciting new opportunity and I'm looking forward to working with Gary as we head into our milestone 10th season. His refreshing energy, collaborative leadership style and passion for the game of basketball are all welcome additions."
Planning for the upcoming season continues to take place and further details on the season structure and other announcements will be made at a later date.
