Billings Mustangs News Release

BILLINGS, Montana - The Billings Mustangs (15-11, 38-26) won their third consecutive game Saturday with a 9-5 win over the Helena Brewers (8-17, 23-40) in front of 1,413 at Kindrick Legion Field. It was the first time the two teams had faced off in the second half of the season.

T.J. Friedl got Billings on the board early with a solo homerun in the top of the first. It was Friedl's third homerun of the year and the first he has hit since his professioinal debut.

Helena immediately snatched back the lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Yeraldy Martinez scored on a throwing error and a sacrifice to right later scored Wes Wilson to make it a 2-1 Brewers advantage.

Andrew Jordan made his return from suspension on Saturday, throwing four and one-third innings in the start. He would give up four runs on five hits. He did not receive a decision.

Trailing 5-3 going to the sixth, it would be late offense that pushed Billings to victory. Seven runs would score over the course of the next four innings for the Mustangs, including two runs in the seventh through ninth. Jose Siri hit a two-RBI single for his second hit of the day while shortstop Trever Morrison committed four errors in the game to aide in scoring the late runs. Two of the errors came in the ninth.

Soid Marquez (4-2) picked up the win by pitching three and one-third innings of relief. It was his longest outing of the year. Patrick Riehl followed with the final four outs to earn his second save in three opportunities.

The Mustangs look for the sweep of the Brewers in the two-game series Sunday at Kindrick Legion Field. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
