
Lowell Recalls Krahn and Engelland from Wranglers

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team has signed left wing Ryan Christie and defenseman Riku Varjamo. The team also announced the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League have recalled goalie Brent Krahn and defenseman Deryk Engelland.
Krahn and Engelland both saw action in the opening weekend at Idaho. Krahn played two games going 0-1-1 with a 3.36 goals against average. The 2000 first round pick of the Calgary Flames stopped 65 of 72 shots at Idaho this weekend for a .903 save percentage. Deryk Engelland played three games recording zero points, but he led the club with 10 penalty minutes.
Christie spent last season with the Saint John Flames of the AHL. In 67 games he posted 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points, while adding 84 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound left wing has played 344 career games. Over that span, the Beamsville, ONT native has posted 81 goals and 78 assists for 159 points, while adding 447 penalty minutes. Christie was drafted by the Dallas Stars in Round 5 (#112 Overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. Christie split seven games in the NHL scoring zero points for the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames.
Varjamo, 27, joins the Wranglers in his first season of North American Hockey. The Espoo, Finland native has spent the past few seasons in the Finnish Elite League playing 81 games with one goal and seven assists.
The Wranglers host the Bakersfield Condors for Opening Night at the Orleans Arena Tuesday, October 21 at 7:05 pm. The Blue Man Group will perform the National Anthem for the first game at the Orleans Arena.
