Inter Miami CF announced today that captain Lionel Messi has been named the team's Most Valuable Player for the 2023 season.
The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner joined Inter Miami in the summer and had an instant impact on the team, playing a key role to help the team clinch the 2023 Leagues Cup title, the first ever for the team. Additionally, the Argentine helped the team advance to the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final, the first-ever to take place at DRV PNK Stadium.
Messi also earned individual accolades for his performances in the process, winning Leagues Cup Best Player and Top Scorer awards after recording an impressive 10 goals and four assists in seven games in the competition.
In all, Messi went on to make 14 appearances across all competitions in his first half season, registering 11 goals and eight assists.
