Liberty Celebrate 15th Anniversary Season with Launch of Liberty "Ring of Honor"

NEW YORK, NY - June 30, 2011 - The New York Liberty are celebrating its 15 years in the WNBA with the launch of the Liberty "Ring of Honor." The "Ring of Honor" will represent retired players who have made the most significant contributions to the Liberty's tradition of excellence and to the growth of the WNBA. The Liberty will induct five players into the "Ring of Honor" during the 2011 regular season. The four inductees that have been selected by a distinguished committee include Kym Hampton, Vickie Johnson, Teresa Weatherspoon and Sue Wicks.

The fifth and final "Ring of Honor" inductee for the 2011 season will be chosen by the fans. Online voting at NYLiberty.com will begin on Monday, July 11 at 9am ET and continue until Friday, July 22 at 5pm ET. The ballot for fans includes Rebecca Lobo, Tari Phillips, Crystal Robinson, Tamika Whitmore and Sophia Witherspoon.

Each of the inductees will be honored with a special halftime ceremony during select home games at Prudential Center during the 2011 season. This Friday, the Liberty will recognize Vickie Johnson as the first "Ring of Honor" recipient during the team's game against the San Antonio Silver Stars. Teresa Weatherspoon will be honored on Sunday, July 17 (Liberty vs. Tulsa Shock at 4pm); Sue Wicks will be honored on Thursday, July 28 (Liberty vs. Washington Mystics at 7pm); and Kym Hampton will be honored on Tuesday, August 30 (Liberty vs. Chicago Sky at 7pm).

Tickets for each of these games can be purchased at the Prudential Center Box Office, on-line at NYLiberty.com, through the WNBA Ticketmaster charge-by-phone number 877-WNBA-TIX, all Ticketmaster outlets and at Ticketmaster.com.

New York Liberty home games will be played at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for the 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons while Madison Square Garden undergoes a comprehensive, top-to-bottom Transformation.
