April 13, 2013 - Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) News Release
Palm Bay, FL - April 2, 2013 - The FHL is pleased to announce that at the end of this summer's Free Agent Camp in Syracuse, NY, the league will be conducting a draft of the top prospects from the camp. The coaches from all the FHL teams have been invited to attend the camp and are looking forward to this 1st Annual Free Agent Camp Draft. The Draft will be broadcast LIVE and FREE on the FHL Sports Network, powered by Live Sports Video. Matt Ryan the voice of the FHL Week in Review, will be joined by other broadcasters and FHL staff members calling all the heart pounding action. Twenty one players who attended the camp last year suited up for one or more of the teams during the course of the season.
This years camp will be divided into 2 separate groups as in the past.
The goaltenders will take to the ice on Wednesday evening (August 7th) followed by 2 sessions on Thursday. The top goaltenders will then advance to Friday mornings session. At the end of this session we will assign three goalies to each of the teams.
The forwards and defensemen will play 3 games starting on Friday evening, (August 9th) then again Saturday evening followed by a third game late Sunday morning. They will also have a skills practice Saturday morning. The Draft will be held approximately 90 minutes after the conclusion of the final game.
As part of this camp, all players will get a jersey, on ice insurance coverage and will be under the direction of Pro coaches from the FHL and other leagues as well as top notch instructors.
This year the cost will be $275 which does not include travel and hotel accommodations. The camp will be back at the Cicero Twin Rinks in Cicero, NY, a suburb of Syracuse. We have signed on with the same hotel as last year at the same price of $85 per night based on 2 people to a room. Tullys Sports Bar is also back for another year giving all players a discount card for wings-n-things at their local bar. Last years camp was highlighted by daily visits to Tullys. This year should be no different.
