
LA Galaxy Academy Teams Host Arsenal FC on Saturday

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014) - The LA Galaxy Academy Under-18, Under-16, and Under-14 will host Arsenal FC at StubHub Center's Field 5 on Saturday, Sept. 13 in Week 2 of U.S. Soccer Development Academy action. The U-18's will take the field first at 10:00 a.m. PT, followed by the U-16's at 12:30 p.m. PT and the U-14's at 3:00 p.m. PT.
The Galaxy Academy U-18's (1-0-0, 3 points) will kick off their home opener when they host Arsenal FC U-18's (1-0-0, 3 points) on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10:00 a.m. PT. The Galaxy U-18's are coming off a convincing 5-0 victory against Strikers FC as first-half goals from midfielder Adrian Vera (4) and forward Dylan Smith (1) propelled the Galaxy U-18's to victory. After this weekend's action, the Galaxy U-18 squad will then travel north to play the San Jose Earthquakes U-18 side on Saturday, Sept. 20 and the Juventus Sport Club U-18's on Sunday, Sept. 21 in Week 3 of the USSDA regular season.
This Saturday's action will continue as the Galaxy Academy U-16's (1-0-0, 3 points) host the Arsenal FC U-16's (0-1-0, 0 points) at StubHub Center's Field 5 at 12:30 p.m. PT. In their opening game this season, the Galaxy U-16's earned a 2-0 road victory against Strikers FC U-16 last Saturday at Santa Ana College. LA Galaxy U-16 forward Ethan Zubak scored two goals as the Galaxy U-16's cruised to victory over the Strikers U-16 side. With the win, the current 2013-2014 Development Academy Champions added their first victory of the 2014-15 campaign. After Saturday's fixture, the Galaxy U-16's, led by head coach Mike Muñoz, will then join the U-18's in their trip north as they play the San Jose Earthquakes U-16's on Saturday, Sept. 20 and the Juventus Sport Club U-16's on Sunday, Sept. 21.
This weekend's USSDA tripleheader action will wrap up when the Galaxy Academy U-14's take on the Arsenal FC U-14's at 3:00 p.m. PT at StubHub Center's Field 5. Last Saturday, the Galaxy U-14's cruised to an impressive 6-2 win over Strikers FC U-14 as a hat-trick from forward Kyle Holcomb, a brace from forward Kevin Negrete and a goal from midfielder Jake Arteaga were enough to seal the Galaxy's victory. After this week's game, the Galaxy U-14 side will take a weekend off from USSDA play and return to action on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they travel to San Diego to play the San Diego Surf U-14 squad at San Diego Polo Club's Field 8 at 3:00 p.m. PT.
LA GALAXY U-16 II'S WIN BIG: The LA Galaxy Academy Under-16 II's are coming off an impressive 9-1 victory over United FC Gold on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Galaxy U-16 II's will look to continue atop the Southern California Developmental Soccer League table this Saturday when the team hosts San Diego-based Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks U-16 Elite, who are currently level with the Galaxy U-16 II's in points. The game will be played at 11:50 a.m. at Ocean Air Rec Center Field 1.
GALAXY U-14 II'S OPEN SCDCL PLAY: The LA Galaxy Academy U-14 II's began their Southern California Developmental Soccer League campaign at home with a 1-1 draw against the LA Galaxy South Bay Gold on Saturday, Sept. 6. The U-14 II's return to SCDSL action on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1:45 p.m. PT against Pateadores U-14 Academy at Melinda Heights Elementary School's Field #1.
U-13 NORTH AND SOUTH SIDES PICK UP WEEKEND POINTS: The LA Galaxy Academy U-13 North and South teams won their opening game in the 2014 Southern California Developmental Soccer League over the weekend. The Galaxy Academy U-13 North team earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Real So Cal U-13 White on Saturday at LA Harbor College Stadium, while the Galaxy's U-13 South side cruised to a 4-0 shutout win at North Torrance High School against LA Galaxy Bakersfield Oro on Saturday, Sept. 7. A day later, the Galaxy U-13 North secured a 6-1 win over the CDA Slammers FC Canseco on Sunday afternoon at the Toyota Sports Complex, while the U-13 South dropped their first game of the season against FC Los Angeles U-13 Black 3-0.
Coming off an important opening weekend, both Galaxy Academy U-13 teams will now return to league action on Saturday, Sept. 13 as they play each other for the first time this campaign. The U-13 South will play the U-13 North side at LA Harbor College at 4:45 p.m. PT.
ACADEMY PRODUCT JAMIESON IV STARTS IN U.S. U-20 TOUR IN SOURTH AMERICA: Bradford Jamieson IV started as the U.S. Under-20's earned a 1-1 draw against Argentina on Tuesday in the final match of their South American excursion. Zach Pfeffer scored the lone goal for the Americans in the 61st minute to help the U.S. end their international trip with a 2-0-1 record. The trip was a highly successful one for Jamieson who appeared in all three matches and scored twice in the team's 3-2 victory over the Defensa y Justicia Reserves last week. The 17-year-old Galaxy Homegrown Player will now return to Southern California where he's expected to be available for selection for Saturday's USLPRO playoff match against the Rochester Rhinos at StubHub Center.
