RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond Kickers opened a two-game Florida road trip with a 2-0 defeat to FC Naples on Wednesday at Paradise Coast Sports Complex. Richmond totaled 14 shots including nine inside the box, but Naples found the back of the net once in each half to secure the victory
FC Naples opened the scoring in the 23rd minute following a corner, but Richmond continued to create chances throughout the first half. Tarik Pannholzer came close on multiple occasions, while Zahir Vazquez nearly redirected a Matt Bolduc cross into the net just before halftime. James Sneddon kept the Kickers in the match with several saves in the final 45 minutes, but Naples doubled its lead in the 67th minute.
FC Naples was led by Raul Miglietti who scored a brace for the home side.
Breaking Down The Action
FC Naples created an early opportunity, but James Sneddon made the initial stop before diving down to deny a follow-up attempt in the seventh minute.
Hayden Anderson's throw-in found Ali Sasankhah in the box whose header sailed just over the net in the 11th minute.
No. 9 Raul Miglietti opened the scoring for Naples following a corner in the 23rd minute.
Zahir Vazquez carried the ball forward before finding Tarik Pannholzer on the right in the 36th minute, whose effort crossed toward goal but rolled wide of the far post.
Pannholzer curled an effort toward goal that went just wide in the 42nd minute.
Matt Bolduc sent a cross into the box for Vazquez who attempted to redirect it toward goal just before the halftime whistle.
FC Naples led 1-0 at halftime.
Naples broke into the box and fired toward goal in the 54th minute, but Sneddon got a hand to the shot to tip it away.
Sneddon rose to punch away a dangerous Naples corner in the 60th minute.
Tyler Freeman and Landon Johnson entered for Lucca Dourado and Vazquez in the 63rd minute.
Bolduc played a pass to Johnson, who back-heeled it back to him for an attempt at goal in the 66th minute.
Raul Miglietti added his second goal of the match to double Naples' lead in the 67th minute.
Daniel Moore and Sean Vinberg replaced Dakota Barnathan and Hayden Anderson in the 72nd minute.
Austin Amer entered for Nils Seufert in the 78th minute.
The final whistle blew with a score of 2-0 in favor of the home side.
