
Kern's Finest vs. Kern's Bravest at the Guns & Hoses Charity Game

It's Fire and Vice at the Annual Guns & Hoses Game: Law enforcement officers from the Bakersfield Police Dept., Sheriff's Dept. and the California Highway Patrol take on firefighters from the Kern County Fire Dept. and the Bakersfield Fire Dept. on Saturday, Feb. 7. The annual game serves as a fundraiser with a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales going to the "Kern County Officers Down 999 Foundation," which supports family members of law enforcement and firefighters who have lost their lives or become seriously injured in the line of duty.
The Guns & Hoses Hockey Game begins at 3 p.m. at Rabobank Arena, with access through the blue doors just east of the main box office windows on Truxtun Ave. The tickets for the regularly scheduled Condors game that evening also serve as admission to the Guns & Hoses Game. Vote for the Condors in the Best of Kern County Poll: For 11 years, Condors hockey has been a Bakersfield favorite, and now its time to show all of Kern County what Condors fans have known for a long time in The Bakersfield Californian's annual "Best of Kern County" readers' choice poll. In this poll, community members are able to vote for their favorites in 100 categories, such as Best Family Attraction (#85) and Best Local Website (#95) as well as Best Customer Service (#13), Best Annual Event (#87) with regard to Teddy Bear Toss, Best Place to Dance (#88), and Best Place to Have a Birthday (#97).

Wednesday, Feb. 4: Tune your radio dial to 106.1 KRAB Radio to catch the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl on the KRAB Morning Show with Meathead, Francis and Miranda at 8:30 a.m. to hear discuss the Condors three home games this week.
Tune in your radio dial to KGFM 101.5 to hear D Donny Grover discuss everything going on in Condorstown on and off the ice with "Rachel and Dustin in the Morning" at 8:20 a.m.
Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd and a front office representative will be at the Bakersfield Adult School from 10 to 10:30 a.m. to give all adult school students the opportunity to purchase a $1 ticket to Wednesday night's game. The Bakersfield Adult School is located at 501 S. Mount Vernon Ave.
The Condors return to The Nest to take on the Idaho Steelheads for High School and College ID Night, sponsored by My 45 and 106.1 KRAB Radio. High school and college students can purchase $1 lower-bowl admission (while seats last) by presenting their student ID at the Rabobank Arena box office.
Thursday, Feb. 5: Condors Community Relations Manager Brian Marsh will attend the Beardsley Elementary School Career Day from 7:45 to 11 a.m. Marsh will speak to students about working in professional sports without being an athlete. Beardsley Elementary School is located at 1001 Roberts Ln.
Four Condors players (TBD) will read to the students at Valley Elementary School located at 2300 E. Brundage Ln. starting at 12:30 p.m.
The Condors Coach's Show will air on ESPN Radio 1230 from 5 to 6 p.m. live from the Hungry Hunter at 3580 Rosedale Hwy. The Coach's Show will feature a Condors player and Head Coach Marty Raymond, and is hosted by the "Voice of the Condors," Kevin Bartl. Fans who attend the show are entered in the monthly drawing for a free Condors jersey.
Friday, Feb. 6: If you missed it on Wednesday, Liam Huculak will be live in studio with "Rachel and Dustin in the Morning" on KGFM 101.5 at 8:20 a.m., as they discuss a big weekend in Condorstown.
Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will serve as a celebrity reader at Loudon Elementary School, located at 4000 Loudon Street, at 1 p.m. The Colonel will act out scenes from a children's book while the story is read aloud.
The Condors play the Alaska Aces on Action Figurine Giveaway Night, sponsored by Bright House Networks and Farmers Insurance. The first 3,000 fans, 5-and-older, will receive a Condors goalie action figurine.
Saturday, Feb. 7: The Condors take on the Idaho Steelheads and welcome the ZOOperstars to The Nest, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, 101.5 KGFM and Mercy & Memorial Hospitals. The ZOOperstars are 10-foot tall animal caricatures of famous sports stars, such as Alex Frogriguez, LeBronco James, Mackerel Jordan, Nomar Garciaparrot, Mario Lemule, and Donovan McCrabb. The ZOOperstars will be performing on the ice during the first and second intermission and will play around with fans in the stands during the game.
Mark Your Calendar: The Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon is only 3 weeks away and sign ups have already begun. To sign up to compete in the 41-hour hockey marathon for participants of all ages and skill levels, which includes two Condors games and is highlighted with a first-ever Condors Alumni vs. West Coast All-Star Alumni Game. To date, the Hockey-Thon has raised more than $162,000 for Links for Life, a local breast cancer resource center.
Tip-A-Condor is right around the corner on March 10. This charity dinner is filled with food and fun, during which the Condors players serve as the evening's waiters and entertainment, working for tips to benefit the Kern County Shrine Club. Tickets are $25 for adults and $16 for children (12-and-under), and be sure to look for members of the Kern County Shrine Club selling tickets on the concourse starting at Wednesday night's game.
