Kansas City Brigade Signs New Kicker
March 16, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Kansas City Brigade News Release
In an effort to bolster the special teams unit in its inaugural season, the Brigade signed AFL rookie kicker MacKenzie Hoambrecker out of the University of Northern Iowa. Hoambrecker has been living in Kansas City and working at Spectrum Marketing since being released by the San Diego Chargers after the team's 2004 training camp. To make room on the roster, the team released veteran kicker Tim Seder.
"I'm just blessed to be playing again, especially in Kansas City," Hoambrekcer said. "All I can do is work hard and focus on doing my job. I'm proud to be a part of the Brigade and look forward to contributing."
"The kicking game in Arena Football is so important," Head Coach Kevin Porter said. "You kick one out every four plays on average. Not only had we not been as successful as we would have liked on field goal and extra point attempts, but also in the field position battle as well. We have seen that that MacKenzie (Hoambrecker) has a powerful leg and the ball explodes off his foot."
