Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce that local radio personality Scotty "Bud" Melvin will be the Public Address Voice for the K-Wings during the 2003-04 season.
"I am very excited to be part of the Kalamazoo Wings family in their 30th year," said Melvin. " I grew up at Wings Stadium, so I am really looking forward to helping them celebrate this season."
While K-Wing fans have heard Melvin on the very popular Rocker Morning Show aired Monday-Friday from 6-10 AM on WRKR 107.7 FM, they now will be able to enjoy Scotty "Bud" as an integral part of an action-packed, fun filled K-Wings game night experience.
"Scott was a natural selection for us," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "He (Melvin) has been a K-Wings fan for years and his enthusiasm for the organization will carry over to our fans."
Melvin, who is a Kalamazoo native, will make his Public Address Announcing debut on Saturday, November 1st, as the K-Wings battle their arch rivals the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 pm at Wings Stadium.
Before the game on November 1st, Stadium Management Company along with special guests will unveil "A Wings Tradition". This exhibit will serve as a tribute to the rich tradition that the Wings Stadium Complex has had in southwest Michigan. Photo collages delineating the chronological history of the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings will be displayed throughout the main concourse of Wings Stadium.
All fans entering Wings Stadium on November 1st will also receive a special Anniversary-themed Magnetic Game Schedule for the upcoming season courtesy of Meijer.
Fans are encouraged to stay after the game to partake in the Cool 101 Wings Stadium/Kalamazoo Wings Anniversary Retro Fest. Any fan that purchases a ticket to the K-Wings game will be permitted into the dance FREE. Individuals that want to only attend the dance can purchase a 30th Anniversary Retro Fest ticket for just $10.
K-Wing fans first opportunity to hear their favorite hometown team will be Friday, October 17th, as the K-Wings play the Fort Wayne Komets at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
