Josh Unice Selected To Play in 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship

USA Hockey has announced today that Josh Unice has been selected from the Kitchener Rangers to participate in the 2009 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship from December 26th to January 5th, 2009 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Unice was signed as a free agent by the Rangers in the summer of 2007 from the U.S. National Under-18 Team.

He was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in round 3, 86th overall in the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

In his first season with the Rangers Josh claimed 30 wins and ended the regular season with a 2.45 goals against average and a save percentage of .908. He then helped lead the Rangers to an Ontario Hockey League Championship with a goals against average of 2.41 and a save percentage of .915.

Unice was the number one backstop for the Rangers during their Memorial Cup run last season that brought them to the finals against the Spokane Chiefs.

He continues to be a top performer for Kitchener, winning his last three games for the Rangers.
