August 1, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced Tuesday that goalkeeper and Homegrown player Jonathan Sirois signed a three-year contract extension for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons with an option year in 2027.
"Jonathan is the prototypical player reflecting what the Club wants to produce within our Academy," said Vice-President and Chief Sporting Officer Olivier Renard. "He has followed the planned path, demonstrating patience, hard work and the right mindset for the Club. It is a well-deserved contract extension. It is now up to him to continue his development."
Sirois, 22, has been with the Club since 2015. He joined CF Montréal Academy from the Spatial Saint-Hubert soccer club and signed his first professional contract with CF Montréal on March 6, 2020.
In 22 games with CF Montréal this season, including 21 starts, the Saint-Hubert native logged 1,897 match minutes, 67 saves and nine clean sheets, in addition to three starts in the Canadian Championship and two more in the group stage of the 2023 Leagues Cup.
Before making his MLS debut, Sirois spent two years on loan with Valour FC of the Canadian Premier League (2021, 2022). In 2,160 minutes of play during his rookie season, he made 94 saves and recorded nine clean sheets, a league high at the time. That same year, he was also named 2021 CPL Goalkeeper of the Year by a panel of media writers and reporters from across Canada.
Transaction: CF Montréal signs goalkeeper and Homegrown player Jonathan Sirois to a three-year contract extension for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons with an option year in 2027.
