Jesse Phillips Returns
January 24, 2006 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB - Jesse Phillips, the Calgary Roughnecks' all-time leader in penalty minutes, returns to the team this coming weekend.
The burly electrician from Langley, British Columbia, was on the injured reserve for the first three games of the season due to a variety of ailments.
But he's now been cleared by the doctors and will be in the line up when the Riggers (2-1) play in Arizona (2-0) on Friday and Portland (1-1) on Saturday.
"Jesse is the heart and soul of this team," said General Manager Kurt Silcott. "With Jesse in the line up I am in no doubt that we will step up our level of play.
"We missed him badly in the three games we've played so far, and it's going to be great to have number 74 back in action."
To create room on the roster for Phillips, rookie Callum Crawford has been moved to injured reserve.
"Callum has had problems with his lower back and needs time for it to heal," explained Silcott.
"He has shown great progress as a player and it is unfortunate that this injury will set him back. We're hopeful that the time off will allow him to return to 100 per cent in a few weeks."
Crawford, 21, was the Riggers first pick in the 2005 NLL entry draft.
