March 11, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release
Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC announce the addition of midfielder Jeff Michaud on a season-long loan from the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League.
Michaud, 22, joins the Hammerheads for their 20th Anniversary season after signing his first professional contract with the Rowdies last season. He made four total appearances in the North American Soccer League in 2015, logging 32 total minutes in his rookie season. The West Palm Beach, Florida, native played in all three matches of the 2016 Rowdies Suncoast Invitational against D.C. United, the Philadelphia Union and the Montreal Impact in February.
The Hammerheads first game of the season against Orlando City B at Eastern Florida State College on March 26 will be a homecoming to Michaud, as he played for the ESFC Titans after transferring from University of Central Florida Knights in 2013. His former collegiate coaches have noted his ability to play anywhere in the midfield and his great knowledge of the game. That knowledge and his attack-minded footwork will be an enhanced asset to the Hammerheads offense this season.
"This is a great opportunity, and I'm excited to be here," said Michaud. "I am here to contribute to the team in any way possible."
Head Coach Mark Briggs added: "I'm excited to get the loan deal for Jeff done, he's a very good player and will excite our fans with his ability going forward."
