Gwinnett Stripers News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Gwinnett Stripers, Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, have joined with the Atlanta Gladiators hockey team to announce "Gwinnett Stripers Night" on Saturday, March 17 at Infinite Energy Arena in Duluth, Ga.
The Gladiators' 7:05 p.m. game vs. the Jacksonville Icemen will include a variety of Stripers-themed and baseball-themed activities. The highlight of the evening will be the Gladiators donning hockey jerseys that imitate the Stripers' recently unveiled green jerseys. These specialty jerseys will be worn during the team's pre-game warmup, and will also serve to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the jerseys throughout the game via a silent auction, with all proceeds going to Jambos, a Buford, Ga.-based nonprofit organization supported by both the Stripers and Gladiators that supplies foster children in Gwinnett County with new pajamas. Fans will also be able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one or more of these one-of-a-kind jerseys, with the proceeds also being donated to Jambos.
"We are thrilled to partner with our longtime neighbors, the Atlanta Gladiators, on Gwinnett Stripers Night," said Gwinnett Stripers Vice President and General Manager North Johnson. "In addition to strengthening the bond within the Gwinnett sports community, this partnership will help us promote the new Stripers brand while also raising money for a great cause. We hope Stripers fans and Glads fans alike will enjoy a night merging the best of minor league baseball and hockey."
"We are very excited to partner with our friends, the Gwinnett Stripers, for an upcoming game and bring two great fan bases from the Metro Atlanta sports community together," said Gladiators President Scott Henrichsen. "There has always been a good relationship between us and the G-Braves (now Stripers); furthering that is very important to us and we are thrilled to take things to the next level."
Added Henrichsen, "We have a lot of great things in store from in-game baseball/Stripers activities to the jersey auction and much more. We want the Stripers fans to see what the game of hockey and the Gladiators are all about all while feeling at home surrounded by elements of their favorite baseball club."
