
Gwinnett Braves Set 2009 Opening Day Roster for Inaugural Season

The Gwinnett Braves set their roster for the team's inaugural season in Gwinnett County. The roster features eight players from the Atlanta Braves' 40-man roster and two players from Baseball America's top-10 prospects in the Braves Organization. Right-handed pitchers Tommy Hanson and Kris Medlen were ranked No. 1 and No. 9, respectively. Right-handed pitcher Juan Perez will also begin the season in Gwinnett on the 15-day disabled list.
The Gwinnett Braves open the 2009 campaign on Thursday, April 9, at Charlotte. The club's home opener is slated for Friday, April 17, versus Norfolk at 7:00 p.m.
The season-opening roster includes 11 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and four outfielders:
PITCHERS (11): Manny Acosta (RH), Francisley Bueno (LH), Mariano Gomez (LH),
Vladimir Nunez (RH), Jo-Jo Reyes (LH), Tommy Hanson (RH), Boone Logan (LH), Kris Medlen (RH), James Parr (RH), Todd Redmond (RH) and Luis Valdez (RH)
CATCHERS (2): J.C. Boscan and Alvin Colina
INFIELDERS (6): Barbaro Canizares, Brooks Conrad, Diory Hernandez, J.C. Holt, Van
Pope and Wes Timmons
OUTFIELDERS: (4): Gregor Blanco, Joe Borchard, Reid Gorecki and Brandon Jones
