Grasshoppers Drop to Dash, 7-2 in Final Game of Home Series

GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Grasshoppers dropped to the Winston-Salem Dash, 7-2 in the final game of its home series on Sunday, July 30. The Dash improved to 11-18 in the second half of the season while the Grasshoppers fell to 12-17. Each team tallied seven hits while the Dash had one mishap.

Leading at the plate for the Grasshoppers was infielder Francisco Acuna as he went 3-4 with a double and one RBI. Hits were also tallied by Tres Gonzalez, Jase Bowen, Jack Brannigan, and Maikol Escotto.

Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Derek Diamond as he recorded one strikeout and gave up one hit in one inning of work. Dante Mendoza took the loss for the Grasshoppers and fell to 4-3 on the season.

Johnny Ray took the win for the Dash and improved to 1-0 on the season.

The Grasshoppers are back at home against the Asheville Tourists on Tuesday, August 3 at 6:30 PM. Come out to First National Bank Field for Two Dog Tuesday at the Hoppers game.
