Fullerton Flyers Sign Radio Deal
March 24, 2006 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release
FULLERTON, CA: The Fullerton Flyers Professional Baseball team, a charter member of the Golden Baseball League, are pleased to announce today that their 80 game schedule in 2006 will be covered on 90.1 FM KBPK, as well as on SportsNetUSA.net. All Flyers home and away games will be heard on SportsNetUSA.net, and 73 of their 80 games will be simulcast on KBPK. All play-off games, should the Flyers advance, will be covered, as well.
KBPK covers most of North Orange County, and into parts of Los Angeles County. Internet users across the world will be able to hear the Flyers by either logging on to www.FullertonFlyers.com, and clicking the audio link, or by logging on to www.SportsNetUSA.net, as well.
The Flyers have hired Jordan Moore, former baseball play-by-play announcer for USC Trojan baseball, as their play-by-play announcer. The Flyers will soon announce Moore's broadcasting partner, as well.
This is Moore's first year with the Flyers. He graduated from USC with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2005. While at USC, Moore served as one of the play-by-play voices for the Trojans baseball and basketball teams. He also co-hosted a weekly sports talk radio show. Moore has spent time working in television production with KCBS/KCAL Sports in Los Angeles, and in Public Relations for the ESPN X Games. Moore is originally from New Jersey, and currently resides in Los Angeles.
"This is an exciting announcement for us", said Flyers General Manager Ed Hart. "Now our fans can hear all Flyers games, home and away, and we will gain a following across the country, as well. We received calls and emails all season in 2005 asking where people could go to hear Flyers games. Moore adds a level of professionalism and enthusiasm to our team, and we are sure our fans will love his style."
Ed Ford, the Operations Manager for SportsNetUSA and KBPK, is glad to be a part of the Flyers family. "We cover various other local sports teams, and the Flyers will be one of our big draws. This will bring many more listeners to our station, which will help us grow. This seems like a natural partnership to us."
KBPK and SportsNetUSA.net are operated and administered by the Fullerton College Communications Department, Division of Technology and Engineering. All sponsorship sales and broadcasters will be handled by the Fullerton Flyers Professional Baseball Team. Any inquiries with regards to the broadcasts should be directed to the Fullerton Flyers.
The Flyers are closing in on an additional deal with a radio station that will carry the team in south Orange County, creating the Fullerton Flyers Radio Network. This will give the Flyers maximum radio exposure throughout all of Orange County, with a population of over 3 million people.
