Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA- The Fresno Grizzlies are excited to announce their achievement and recognition for their recycling efforts over the 2005 season. The Grizzlies were one of five major Fresno area businesses to receive the Mayor's Business Recycling Award, which was given to commercial businesses that actively support recycling in the workplace.

"We are extremely proud of the conscious efforts put forth by our organization to better the environment in Fresno," said Grizzlies President Pat Filippone. " We have always taken a great deal of pride in our appearance in the community and will continue to find new and creative ways to strengthen our recycling efforts for the years to come."

The Grizzlies pride themselves on working hand-in-hand with the city of Fresno on maintaining their recycling efforts throughout the entire year. Filippone implemented a program where the Grizzlies dance team, the Diamond Dancers, would collect recyclable items during the seventh inning of all 72 home games for the 2005 season.

"We are especially grateful for the recycling promotions offered at the Grizzlies games," said Chief of Recycling Operations Bob Gedert. "The recycling videos, posters and dancers all add fun to the recycling effort while pushing the message to baseball fans."
