(Edmonton) - The Edmonton Eskimos have released defensive lineman Rashad Jeanty and fullback Evan Harrington.
In February, Jeanty returned to the Eskimos where he began his pro career in 2003. He started in the week one home opener vs. Toronto before being placed on the injured list. During his first round with the club, he won two Grey Cup championships in three years and nabbed the team record for the most sacks in one game (three). After signing with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2006, he played 53 games with 32 starts. In 2009, he led the team with 14 special teams tackles before he broke his leg during the opening kickoff of the AFC Wild Card game vs. the New York Jets. He missed the entire 2010 season as a result. In 2011, Jeanty signed with Philadelphia, but was released before regular season.
Harrington began the 2012 season on the Eskimo practice roster and was named as a starter for week five vs. the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Prior to joining the Eskimos, he played college football at the University of Colorado. Primarily a blocker, Harrington was a first-team fullback in 2011, recording seven receptions for 41 yards and one touchdown. He was a pivotal special teams performer, finishing fourth with 18 special team points - all coming on knockdown blocks on the return unit.
