Drew Rucinski Selected to Frontier League All-Star Team

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Rockford starting pitcher Drew Rucinski has been selected to play in the 2013 Frontier League All-Star Game, presented by 84 Lumber.

At the time of voting, Rucinski held a three win, five loss record and an ERA of 2.54 through ten starts. Rucinski has also racked up a league-best 69 strike outs.

Rucinski joins a West Division pitching staff of Ryan Demmin (Normal CornBelters), Tim Brown, Zac Treece and Ja'Vaun West (Gateway Grizzlies), Michael Click (Windy City ThunderBolts), Nick Kennedy (River City Rascals) and Chris Phelan (Schaumburg Boomers).

The position players for the West Division All-Stars include Mike Schwartz (Normal CornBelters), Marquis Riley (Joliet Slammers), Pat McKenna (Normal CornBelters), Chris McClendon (Gateway Grizzlies), Mike Valadez (Schaumburg Boomers), Jon Meyers (Gateway Grizzlies), Antone DeJesus (Gateway Grizzlies), Sean Mahley (Schaumburg Boomers), Steve McQuail (Schaumburg Boomers), Phil Wunderlich and Curran Redal (River City Rascals), Marquis Riley (Joliet Slammers), Adam Davis, Mike Torres and Ryan Soares (Windy City ThunderBolts), Pat McKenna (Normal CornBelters), Gerard Hall, Sean Mahley, Steve McQuail and Mike Valadez (Schaumburg Boomers), and Antone DeJesus, Landon Hernandez, Chris McClendon and Jon Meyers (Gateway Grizzlies).

The East Division All-Stars include Balbino Fuenmayor (Frontier Greys), C.J. Beatty (Washington Wild Things), Taylor Wrenn (Traverse City Beach Bums), Andrew Davis (Lake Erie Crushers), Emmanuel Quiles (Lake Erie Crushers), C.J. Henry (Evansville Otters), Stewart Ijames (Washington Wild Things), John Schultz (Evansville Otters), Byron Wiley (Florence Freedom), Gerardo Avila and Carlos Mendez (Southern Illinois Miners), Max Casper and Daniel Bowman (Lake Erie Crushers), Junior Arrojo (Florence Freedom), Marcus Nidiffer (Traverse City Beach Bums), and John Nester (Evansville Otters).

The East pitching staff includes Scott Dunn (Traverse City Beach Bums), Ryan Zamorsky and Bryce Morrow (Evansville Otters), Michael Oros and Jorge Marban (Florence Freedom), Dave Middendorf and Matt Rein (Lake Erie Crushers), and Preston Vancil (Southern Illinois Miners).

The votes came from all 14 league general managers, field managers, coaching staffs, broadcasters and local members of the media.

The West division will be managed by Phil Warren and the coaching staff from the Gateway Grizzlies. Gateway has secured first place in the West and has earned the right to coach in the All-Star game. This is the second time that Warren has been selected to manage the game with the previous time coming in 2007 at Florence. The East division manager and coaching staff has not been determined as there are four teams that are only separated by a game and a half.

The final three spots on both teams will be selected by the mangers of each team and will be announced Thursday, July 11.
