Danger Return Six; Sign Two
September 15, 2014 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Nebraska Danger News Release
The Nebraska Danger Indoor Professional Football Team has re-signed six players from the 2014 IFL Intense Conference Champion team and two new additions to the 2015 roster. Danger Head Coach Mike Davis is excited to announce the return of Jameel Sewell, Jamar Love, Marcus Barnett, Justin Edison, D'Angelo McCray and Claude Wroten and the signing of Austin Dotson and Emmanuel Moody.
"Starting off our 2015 roster with these veterans is a major score for us," Davis said. "These guys bring a lot of talent to the table. Sewell was the league MVP in 2013 and Love and Wroten were First-Team All-IFL last year. When you add in Barnett, Eddison, and McCray, our roster is definitely starting off on the right track."
Sewell, who played collegiately at Virginia, was named the IFL MVP in 2013 and then followed up his MVP season with 1,572 passing yards, 443 rushing yards, 29 passing touchdowns and 18 rushing touchdowns in 2014. Sewell missed five games due to injury this past season, but will return at full strength in 2015.
Love returns to the Danger secondary after leading the team in interceptions (6) and pass breakups (16) last season. "Jamar is the type of guy that forces the other team to think twice about throwing to his side of the field," Davis said.
Wroten looks to return as a disruptive force on the Danger Defensive line after being third in the IFL in sacks (8.5) in 2014. Wroten played a key part in the Intense Conference Championship game in 2014 where he had three sacks in the game against Colorado.
Barnett has battled injuries in two seasons for Nebraska. He played in nine games in 2013 and was sixth in the IFL in kick return yardage. In 2014, he played in six games and hauled in 14 receptions for the Danger.
Edison joined the Danger for the final regular season game and the two playoff games last season. He looks to take that valuable experience and apply it throughout the entire 2015 season.
McCray is the first member of the 2015 Danger Offensive Line. McCray played a key role in the Danger's high powered offense last season that recorded over 3,000 total yards of offense.
One of the new signees for the Danger in 2015 is Austin Dotson from Sacramento State University. Dotson will be fighting for a spot on the final roster at the very competitive wide receiver position.
As part of the Florida Gators' BCS national champion team in 2009, Moody brings championship experience to the Danger. Moody was signed with the NFL's Buffalo Bills in 2011 and then played in Germany in 2013.
"With this first group of guys, I think we are on our way to bringing a United Bowl Championship to Grand Island this year," Davis said.
The Danger, back-to-back Intense Conference Champions in 2013 and 2014, will kick off a run for a United Bowl championship in late February. Season Tickets are now available at the Heartland Events Center Box Office. For more information, visit www.dangerfootball.com
