Dallas Wings News Release

Arlington, TX - The Dallas Wings have signed guard Kitija Laksa to a rest-of-season contract. With Wings rookie guard Azzi Fudd sidelined for the remainder of the season, Dallas was granted a Season-Ending Injury Exception from the WNBA, allowing the signing of Laksa.

The 6-1 guard from Latvia played the 2025 WNBA season with the Phoenix Mercury where she averaged 5.9 points and 1.2 rebounds over 33 games. Laksa was selected by the Toronto Tempo in April's expansion draft before being waived by the Tempo prior to the start of the regular season. She was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm, but did not play in the WNBA until 2025, electing to remain in Europe where she competed in Latvia and Italy.

Laksa attended the University of South Florida (2015-19) where she played for current Dallas Wings Head Coach Jose Fernandez. While at USF, Laksa finished sixth on the Bulls' all-time scoring list (1,764 points), third in career points per game (17.8), first in free throw percentage (89.6%) and second in three-point percentage (39.1%). A member of the Latvian National Team since 2013, Laksa helped lead Turkish club Fenerbahçe to EuroLeague and Turkish Cup titles in 2024. Since then, she has played for Beretta Famila Schio in Italy, helping win the Italian League Championship in 2025. She was an All-Europe First Team honoree in 2025, while also garnering All-Europe Shooting Guard of the Year accolades in the same year. Over 22 games with Schio in 2025, Laksa averaged 11.9 points per game off .531 shooting, including .392 from three.

Laksa's availability has not been determined as the Wings work through the immigration process. She will wear No. 33.
