Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. -- The Altoona Curve extended their lead in the Eastern League's Western Division with a 6-4 win on Tuesday night over the Bowie Baysox at Peoples Natural Gas Field while Curve second baseman Max Moroff extended his on-base streak to a league-best 28 games.

After falling behind in the first inning, the Curve (19-11) scored five unanswered runs and held off a late rally by the Baysox (18-14) to take the second game of the three-game series.

Moroff worked a pair of late walks but had his team-leading eleven-game hitting streak end after going 0-for-3.

After an error led to a Bowie run in the top of the first, the Curve tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning with an RBI groundout by first baseman Josh Bell.

In the second, third baseman Eric Wood hit an RBI double to put the Curve ahead 2-1.

Altoona starter Angel Sanchez (Win, 3-1) finished the game with five strikeouts while allowing three runs (two earned) over 5.2 innings.

Right fielder Stetson Allie extended the Altoona lead with a solo home run off of Elih Villanueva (Loss, 4-3) in the fourth inning, his third in the last six games. The Curve scored two more runs in the fifth to pull ahead 5-1.

After Bowie two runs in the sixth inning closed the score to 5-3, the Baysox closed within one run in the eighth on an RBI single by Mike Yastrzemski.

The Curve added an insurance run in the ninth with a run-scoring double by shortstop Gift Ngoepe.

Reliever Collin Balester (Save, 4) stranded the potential tying run at the plate in the ninth inning for a six-out save.

The Curve look to sweep the Baysox on Wednesday morning at PNG Field. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with lefty Tom Harlan (3-1, 3.72) making his first start of the season for the Curve. Right-hander Parker Bridwell (1-1, 4.97) will be on the hill for Bowie.

Air time on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. It will be Wing & Wine Wednesday at PNG Field, featuring .50-cent wings and wine specials on the concourse. Wednesday will also be a 4-Pack Wednesday, featuring four tickets, hot dogs and regular sodas for $39. For tickets and more information, visit AltoonaCurve.com or call 877.99.CURVE.
