
Corel Centre Not as Kind to Majors Second Time Around

OTTAWA, ON â The Toronto St. Michael's Majors participated in their 2nd Corel Centre tilt versus the Ottawa 67's this afternoon. Although the Majors enjoyed a few leads, the 67's kept clawing their way back and eventually won 4-3 in overtime.
John Adams got the scoring started for the Majors only 3:59 into the game with Ryan Wilson drawing the lone assist. However, Lukas Kaspar responded for Ottawa only 48 seconds later on a solo effort. Alexei Ivanov then put Toronto back out in front at 11:29 when he tallied his 1st OHL goal, on the power-play, off of Nathan McIver and Darryl Boyce feeds.
The only goal of the 2nd period came from Ottawa's Julian Talbot, at 16:10, with the assists getting credited to Brody Todd and Chris Hulit. The Majors jumped back out in front only 1:45 into the 3rd period when Ryan Wilson completed a pretty solo dash. However, Kaspar drew the visitors even once again, at 7:11, with Jakub Petruzalek and Will Colbert providing the support. Then, a Hulit wrist shot trickled past Majors goaltender Justin Peters only 12 seconds into overtime to give the 67's the win. Ottawa defenceman Derek Joslin was given an assist on the play.
Peters stopped 31 shots for the Majors while Danny Battochio turned aside 20 for the 67's. The Majors were 1 for 4 on the man-advantage while the 67's were 0 for 5. The game's three stars were Hulit (1st), Kaspar (2nd) and Wilson (3rd).
The Majors spend all of next weekend on the road. They visit the Barrie Colts on Thursday evening (December 9th) at 7:30 pm, the Mississauga IceDogs on Friday night (December 10th) at 7:30 pm and the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday afternoon (December 12th) at 2:00 pm. The former will be available on Rogers television in the Toronto region (channel 10 or 63) while all three will be webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com. Please be aware that the 2004-05 Majors magnetic and pocket schedule both list the Sudbury game as a 6:00 pm puck drop when it should actually be 2:00 pm. The Majors will return home to entertain the Plymouth Whalers on Friday, December 17th at 7:30 pm.
