June 19, 2018 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Cedar Rapids River Kings News Release
Cedar Rapids, IA - At a February news conference, ownership of the Cedar Rapids Titans announced that the team was for sale. The number one priority was to secure a new ownership group that would keep the team in the Cedar Rapids community.
On Tuesday, the current ownership, in conjunction with the Indoor Football League, announced a sales agreement with Roy Choi, a California businessman, to purchase the seven-year old Indoor Football League franchise. The new ownership group is committed to keeping the franchise in Cedar Rapids and has signed a league affiliation agreement with the Indoor Football League for the 2019 season.
Choi is the managing partner of Knighted Ventures, a California based company investing and managing projects in entertainment and gaming. He is also the Executive Producer for Kollaboration Global, a national nonprofit organization that provides Asian American artists and leaders a platform to discover, empower, and connect. "The league is pleased to welcome Roy and his ownership group to the IFL family," stated IFL Commissioner Michael Allshouse. "We are excited to open the book to a new chapter in the great history of the Titans franchise."
Choi and his ownership group intend to hire a complete office staff and announce organizational plans, including season ticket information for the 2019 season, in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to www.cedarrapidstitans.com and www.goifl.com for the latest announcements.
