Greenville Drive News Release

GREENVILLE, SC - Greenville struck for a season-high nine runs and rode the pitching of lefthander Andrew Dobies in a 9-2 victory over the Savannah Sandgnats on Tuesday night at Municipal Stadium. Dobies (2-0) carried a no-hit bid into the fifth inning in winning a second straight start while the Bombers have now won two games in a row and six of their last eight.

Dobies finished his night firing six shutout frames, striking out seven batters allowing two hits and walking two. Savannah left fielder Reggie Fitzpatrick's two-out line drive single to center in the fifth inning was the first Sandgnats safety of the night. By then the Bombers had a 4-0 lead.

Facing Savannah righthander Graham Bunn (L,0-1), who was activated off the Disabled List earlier in the day, the Bombers would claim the lead in the second inning. Andrew Pinckney opened the frame with a triple and eventually scored on a fielder's choice ground ball by Luis Soto.

Greenville added three more tallies in the fourth inning to chase Bunn. Bryan Pritz RBI double and Pinckney's two-run single upped the Bombers lead to 4-0. Pinckney led the Bombers at the plate Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored.

The clubs meet Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 in the finale of their three-game series and the Bombers final game of a seven-game homestand. Lefthander Adam Blackley (1-0) will pitch for Greenville vs. Savannah righthander Daryl Thompson (0-1).
