Bob Dylan's 2009 Baseball Tour Heading for New Britain Stadium
May 5, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - The legendary Bob Dylan, an international icon in the music and entertainment worlds for the past five decades, will again be taking the centerfield stage at New Britain Stadium this July 15th when - accompanied by fellow All-Stars John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson - he'll bring his 2009 Ballpark Tour to Connecticut.
The acclaimed troubadour last appeared under the stars at New Britain Stadium in August of 2006 when he brought his rousing Minor League Ballpark Tour to the Hardware City. The 2009 Ballpark Tour will play a total of twenty-two dates, commencing on July 2nd in Illinois, and - after traversing the length and breadth of America - concluding in California on August 15th. The 2009 New Britain performance will be one of just two shows in all of New England.
Despite receiving multiple Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Kennedy Center Honor, Bob Dylan continues to perform for his fans in venues of all sizes. And as a recording artist, he still hits the long ball. After debuting at #1 with his last record, Modern Times, Dylan has recently released a brand new studio album through Columbia Records. Entitled Together Through Life, it has already received considerable praise from, among others, The London Telegraph and The New York Times.
Over the course of a career that has spanned more than thirty years, John Mellencamp - a consummate songwriter and performer - has released 23 albums which have sold more than 40 million copies. In 2008, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mellencamp's ties to the amazing Willie Nelson - a true American Treasure - date back to 1985 when the two collaborated on the first Farm Aid benefit concert. The two legends soon enlisted the assistance of a third - Bob Dylan - and the three have been friends ever since.
All tickets for the 2009 Tour's New Britain performance are priced at $73.00 (all inclusive) and are General Admission, allowing fans to either sit in the Stadium's grandstand or, if they prefer, find a comfortable place to watch from the field. These tours are multigenerational events with children 14-and-under admitted for free as long as they are accompanied by an adult ticket holder.
Tickets for the Wednesday evening, July 15th concert will be available starting Saturday, May 9th at 10:00 AM at the Box Office at New Britain Stadium. Showtime will be 5:30 PM with Stadium gates opening in New Britain at 5:00 PM.
There will be no Rock Cats game at the Stadium on the day of the show.
Fans seeking either tickets or information about this exciting July 15th show may call the New Stadium Ticket Office at (860) 224-8383. Those preferring the convenience of on-line ticket procurement may do so by visiting the Rock Cats website - www.rockcats.com - and following the posted instructions.
