Blitz OL/DL Patrick Hughes on the Coach's Corner on KRAB Radio

BAKERSFIELD - Bakersfield Blitz OL/DL, Patrick Hughes will be a guest on the weekly broadcast of "The Coach's Corner" on Friday, May 26 at 9:30 a.m. "The Coach's Corner" is a new segment on The KRAB Morning Show with Meathead, Desi, and Rocky Nash, Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m.

Originally from Nacogdoches, Texas, Patrick Hughes attended Florida State University. Before graduating in 2002 with a degree in Business Administration, Hughes helped lead Florida State to three national title games. In 1999, Hughes and the rest of the Florida State Seminoles won the National Championship game against Virginia Tech. University. (At the time, Virginia Tech. quarterback was current Atlanta Falcons quarterback, Michael Vick.) After college, Hughes signed with the NFL Chicago Bears in 2003 and then played for the Houston Texans in 2004. Hughes made the switch to arena football in 2005 when he played for the AFL Utah Blaze. Now with the Bakersfield Blitz, his years of experience in high caliber football make him a vital part of the Blitz arsenal.

When not demonstrating his powerhouse moves on the turf, Hughes is out in the community working with kids. For the last three years, Hughes has rejoined with past Seminole teammates every August for the annual Bobby Bowden Football Camp for kids. During the camp, Hughes and other players teach basic football skills to kids, ages ranging from 8-17 years old. Since 2000, Hughes has been volunteering his summer time to mentor and tutor kids at local Boys & Girls Clubs.

Patrick Hughes and the rest of the Blitz team are traveling North on Saturday, May 27 for the Battle of Highway 99 - Part II against the Central Valley Coyotes. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Selland Arena in Fresno. In game one of the three game series, Blitz defeated the Central Valley Coyotes, 38-28 on April 15 in Fresno.
