Binghamton Black Bears exchange congratulations after a goal against the Delaware Thunder

BINGHAMTON - The Binghamton Black Bears defeated the Delaware Thunder on Saturday night, 5-4, in front of a sellout crowd of 4,893 fans inside Visions Veterans Memorial Arena.
Kyle Stevens electrified the crowd in Binghamton just 3:05 into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Sam Holeczy sent the puck on net and it went off of Stevens and over the goal line for the advantage. The assists were given to Holeczy and Egor Borschchev.
Binghamton added to the lead just 4:12 into the game to take a 2-0 lead. Kyle Powell tapped in a great pass from Nikita Ivashkin for his second of the year. Josh Newberg collected the other assist for the Black Bears.
After settling down, Delaware split Binghamton's lead in half while on the power play. Adamo Asselin beat goaltender Joe Sheppard as the puck trickled over the line to get the Thunder on the board. The goal came at 11:45 of the first period and the Black Bears took a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
After Delaware tied the game courtesy of Noah Wild just 1:14 into the second period, Gaving Yates and Nikita Ivashkin scored back-to-back goals to get the Black Bears another two-goal lead. Yates' tally came at 4:15 of the second and Ivashkin's goal went in at 10:18 to take a 4-2 lead.
Ryan Marker got on the scoresheet to pull the Thunder back within a goal just over mid-way through the second period. Liam Little set him up at the 12:12 mark and was credited with the only assist and Binghamton's lead was cut to 4-3.
Ivashkin tallied his second goal of the night to give the Black Bears another two-goal lead. Egor Nosov assisted Ivashkin's goal to give the Black Bears a 5-3 advantage with 6:46 left in the second period. Delaware's Dan Cangelosi responded at 15:30 of the second to get the Thunder once again within one. Binghamton led 5-4 after two periods and held on for the 5-4 win.
The Black Bears home opener is tomorrow, November 6 against the Delaware Thunder at 7 p.m. inside Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with live music from Wreckless Marci and drink specials until the puck drops.
