Augusta Lynx News Release
Augusta, GA - Mike Erickson and Garrett Bembridge each scored twice as the Augusta Lynx downed the Trenton Titans 5-2 at the James Brown Arena Friday night.
Bembridge opened the scoring for Augusta at 3:09 with his first of two power play goals in the period, backhanding a shot over the left shoulder of Gregg Naumenko from Brian Passmore and Aaron Slattengren.
Slattengren and Passmore would again conspire to set up Bembridge at 6:32, this time for a one-timer to a wide open stick side on the Trenton goal to make it 2-1.
At 14:59 Erickson recorded his first goal of the night, ringing a shot in off the near goal post to make it 3-1 after the first period.
Jake Ortmeyer's power play goal made it a 3-2 game through 40 minutes of play, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Ryan Petz had an opportunity to give Augusta a two goal cushion when he was awarded a penalty shot at 9:23 of the final frame, but denied by Naumenko as he tried to go high glove with a rolling puck.
Late in the game, Augusta won a key faceoff outside the Trenton line. Nick Kuiper drove the puck around the wall to the left wing where Ryan Lang cut it off, moving behind the Titans' goal before feeding it out in front to Erickson in the high slot. A wrist shot over the glove of Naumenko gave the Lynx a 4-2 lead with just 1:42 remaining in the game.
Lang would then ice the victory for Augusta with an empty net goal at 18:34 for his third point of the night.
Dave McKee stopped 29 shots for the Lynx in the win, picking up his 20th victory of the season. Naumenko turned aside 49 of 53 shots against in the loss.
Augusta gets back to action tomorrow night at home against the Gwinnett Gladiators, with faceoff coming at 7:35 pm. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at 10 am through the team office by calling (706) 724-4ICE. Seats are $18, $15, and $11, with discounts available for students, seniors, and military personnel.
