(Bowling Green, KY) Parker Frazier went seven strong innings and Andrew Goff doubled in his Asheville debut in a 5-3 Asheville win over Bowling Green on Friday. The Tourists took advantage of five Bowling Green errors and pushed across four unearned runs in the win. Asheville (26-41) received RBI hits from Goff, Scott Robinson and Beau Seabury in the victory.
Beau Seabury gave Asheville a 2-0 lead with a single in the second inning. David Christensen and Tyler Massey both reached on errors to lead off the second inning. Ryan Peisel then advanced the runners on a sacrifice bunt. Beau Seabury then singled up the middle to score the first two runs of the game.
Frazier (3-5) held the Hot Rods to three runs on five hits over seven innings in the win. All three Hot Rods runs came with two outs in the third inning. Jake Jeffries doubled in two runs and Kyeong Kang tripled in one run giving Bowling Green a 3-2 lead. Frazier then set down seven consecutive batters and would strike out two in the seventh inning to earn the win.
The Tourists tied up the game in the fourth inning on Goff's double. Pesel reached on a single and took second on a groundout. Goff then doubled to left to tie the game at 3-3. In his Asheville debut, Goff went 2-3 with a walk and run scored.
Scott Robinson singled in a run to break the tie in the seventh inning. Seabury began the seventh reaching on an error and Goff followed with a walk. Bowling Green reliever Marquis Flemming (1-2) balked to move runners to second and third. Robinson then singled to give Asheville a 4-3 lead. Robinson would then steal second as catcher Jacob Jeffries throw went into the outfield scoring the fifth and final run of the game.
Michael Marbry struck out two in the eighth and handed the ball to closer Adam Jorgenson in the ninth inning. Bowling Green loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but Jorgensen struck out the final two batters to earn his 10th save of the season.
