Altoona Curve set to open a six-game homestand against Rock Cats and Defenders on Tuesday

June 2, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release

The surging Altoona Curve return home to Blair County Ballpark after prevailing in six of their last seven games to open a six-game homestand, which starts with a three-game set against the New Britain Rock Cats (AA/Minnesota). The weekend series will include a trio of games against the San Francisco Giants Double-A affiliate, the Connecticut Defenders. The homestand lasts from June 3-8.

Highlighting the six-game stretch will be an appearance from Pittsburgh Steelers place kicker and Super Bowl XL Champion Jeff Reed on June 5. Reed will throw out a ceremonial first pitch and sign free autographs for fans on the concourse during the game.

Over the homestand, fans will also have a chance to salute the quitters in sports, such as former Atlanta Falcons coach Bobby Petrino and well-traveled NBA coach Larry Brown on "Salute to Quitters Night" on June 3. One lucky fan will actually be encouraged to leave the game early and will literally be given a back door (to take the easy way out, of course)!

The upcoming homestand will also feature a pair of fireworks shows on Friday and Sunday, while the first 2,000 fans of all ages will receive a commemorative 10th Anniversary Curve Beanie giveaway on June 7 presented by The Teeter Group and Eastern Insurance Holdings, Inc.
